Overview:	In this set we return to the benighted plane of Innistrad. As always, horror lurks at every turn, and the humans of this world are perpetually beset by the manifold terrors of this gothic realm. Alas, something fundamental has changed on Innistrad. Avacyn, the once beloved protector of humankind has gone mad, and the angels that once watched over the townsfolk are now raining death and judgment upon them. The real mystery is...what looming evil is causing this cosmic derangement to seep across the plane? Nahiri, the Harbinger is not only a big flavor win, she is probably the most powerful card in Shadows over Innistrad. By ticking up she can quickly go ultimate and put a hasty Emrakul, the Aeons Torn onto the battlefield. Her +1 ability also lets you play a full four copies of her, since you can discard redundant copies. This ability makes for ultra-consistency when making her the focal point of a deck. Archangel Avacyn was also an instant success in Standard, so much so that when an opponent passes the turn with {3}{W}{W} mana available, the conclusion was automatic. People who didn’t even have Avacyn in their decks could buy a turn as their opponents tried to play around Avacyn. The Madness mechanic from Time Spiral returned, featured heavily amongst the Vampires printed in black and red. Transform from the original Innistrad block also returned. The set featured new mechanics as well; Delirium, Investigate, and Skulk. Delirium is a mechanic that turns on abilities once you have four or more card types in your graveyard. Investigate puts an artifact “Clue” token into play that you can sacrifice to draw a card by paying two mana. Finally, Skulk is an evasive ability that makes creatures unblockable by creatures with higher power than the Skulk creature.
